APRIL 19, 2009: As of today, Dali Planet has 53 pages of “posts”, meaning individual essays/articles, and nine other pages, listed under “Palette”, devoted to topics of special interest. There are 210 posts and probably 3,000 images.

The last of the major post additions and shifts in post alignment are now complete, although significant revisions are probable in the near future based on the Descharnes book. Soon to be added are special pages on Mike Wallace’s interview with Dali and Garcia Lorca’s “Ode to Salvador Dali”, and a biographical timeline for quick reference.

The Palette categories have been revamped, with some of the people included there now moved to the “Name-dropping” list in the menu and some of the places deleted altogether, now accessible by search only.

Quick links have been added to the Palette to the posts corresponding to the beginning of each decade. These differ from the decade links in the Index, which are not necessarily chronological.

I still haven’t figured out why a huge gap appears between some of the post headers and the category lists above them. If any HTML aficionados have ideas, I’d love to hear them!

MARCH 4, 2009: Less than three months after it first showed up in Google searches this website is already getting several hundred visits a day. It was deemed “ready enough” to go fully online last autumn, but large chunks of it are still being hoisted into place.

Among other things, this means that visitors might find their on-site searches going askew as new posts are added regarding Dali’s early life, bumping later pages further back in the chronology and thus throwing the links off.

Over the next month or three the biggest planned additions will be made and the page order will stabilise.

The major additions include many photos and substantial passages from Dali’s 1942 biography, “The Secret Life”. Further modifications will almost certainly be made as I pore through Robert Descharnes’ massive, two-volume book on Dali’s paintings, which I only recently acquired. The menu will be significantly changed as well.

In the meantime, thanks for your patience.
